About Me & contact

Background: After renovations on my 100 year-old home went massively over-budget, hosting 310 groups of people in 13 months via the Airbnb platform helped me earn $72,707 (and rescue my keister), all while staying focused on my full-time job. The goal of this site is to help you crush the hosting game while maintaining your sanity. If your location is decent and you're willing to put in the work up front, hosting can be a very fun and reasonably lucrative way to use your home!

I needed to make a lot of cash fast. Massive renovations on my 100 year-old home had run over budget and over schedule. This website chronicles all of the considerations and lessons learned from successfully hosting 310 groups of people in one year, resulting in $72k of gross income, all while working my engineering day job 40-50 hours per week. Once I got things “dialed in”, hosting required an additional one or two hours per week (though split into numerous 60-second chunks). To pull this off – sustainably thrilling guests and keeping my day job and sanity, I had to build efficiency into every aspect of the hosting business. Building these efficiencies required carefully considering where to invest up-front in order to decrease the amount of effort required per guest, while ensuring they had a 5-star experience.

When I began my hosting adventure, I wished that there was a “one-stop shop” for answers to the myriad large and minute questions related to building an Airbnb business. This site seeks to be a valuable source for those hoping to host Airbnb in their homes while maintaining demanding careers. For each facet of the business, I lay out the requirements that were developed and how those requirements were met.
